In Big Waves 1 swimmers will become confident submerging underwater with proper breath control. They will learn the foundations of swimming including floating, treading, and retrieving objects. Lastly swimmers will know the basics of freestyle, elementary backstroke, and sitting dives.
In Big Waves 2, swimmers will learn how to dive headfirst from the kneeling and standing position and tread for longer periods. Lastly, using proper techniques, swimmers will be able to swim one lap freestyle with bi-lateral breathing, backstroke, and different drills for both strokes.
In Big Waves 3, swimmers will refine their skills and build endurance to swim longer distances. Swimmers will learn the foundations for breaststroke. butterfly, and dolphin kicking underwater. Also, swimmers will demonstrate treading with a different kick, diving of the block, and the concept of stroke count.
